Unable to Delete or Deactivate Okta Workflows or Okta Admin Console Applications
Last Updated:
Overview
Administrators cannot delete or deactivate the Okta Workflows or Okta Admin Console applications, as they are built-in system applications required for tenant functionality. To restrict access, administrators must manage user assignments or authentication policies rather than attempt deletion. The options to deactivate or delete the Okta Workflows or Okta Admin Console applications do not appear in the Okta tenant.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Workflows
- Okta Admin Console
Cause
The Okta Workflows and Okta Admin Console applications exist as core system applications within the Okta platform. Okta prevents the deactivation or deletion of these applications to ensure the tenant remains functional and accessible.
Solution
How is access restricted for built-in system applications?
Okta intentionally omits the deactivation and deletion options for the Okta Workflows and Okta Admin Console applications because they function as permanent system applications. Restrict access to these applications by managing user assignments and authentication policies in the Okta Admin Console.
- In the Okta Admin Console, go to Applications > Applications.
- Select the Okta Workflows or Okta Admin Console application.
- Select the Assignments tab and remove unauthorized users or groups.
- Select the Sign On tab and configure authentication policies that restrict access based on specific conditions.
