Inside the New Okta Ideas Portal: Turn Your Feedback Into Reality

Kathy Tran

At Okta, some of our best product enhancements start with customers here in the Okta Community. That’s why we’re excited to unveil the new Okta Ideas portal.

Keep reading to learn what’s new in the Okta Ideas portal, how you can submit or vote on ideas, and the lifecycle of a Community-driven idea.

What’s New in Okta Ideas?

The biggest upgrade? We’re bringing your voices together. Instead of dozens of duplicate feedback we now group similar feedback and shared themes into a single, unified Idea. It’s a truer representation of what our community needs and it gives your collective voice way more impact.

We’ve also refreshed the portal to make your feedback more actionable and easier to track:

4 Simple Statuses: We’ve cut down the noise so it’s easier to track ideas. We’ve minimized statuses to just four:

  • Community Review: The idea is open for community voting and team review.
  • Accepted to Backlog: The idea has been validated by our team of Okta Product Managers and is being evaluated for a future roadmap.
  • On the Roadmap: The idea currently in the discovery, design, or active build phase. While we are actively exploring a solution, please note that plans are subject to change and this does not represent a guarantee of delivery or a specific timeline.
  • Delivered: A feature or enhancement influenced by an Idea is live and ready for the public. This is where we also toss a little confetti here at Okta to celebrate.

A Refreshed Backlog: Keeping a clean home is just one of the requirements of an online community so we regularly archive older, inactive posts so our Product Managers can focus on current, high-impact needs.

“By centralizing community feedback and connecting it directly to our internal development tools, we’re making it easier than ever for our product teams to prioritize what you need most. And with closed-loop updates sent straight to your inbox, you’ll know where your voice is driving real change.”

How Do I Submit an Okta Idea?

Your feedback directly guides our product evaluation process. While votes don't automatically guarantee a spot on the roadmap, sharing why a feature matters helps us build solutions for the challenges you face every day. To submit a feature request in the Okta Ideas Portal, see this Okta Ideas knowledge article or continue reading:

  1. Visit the Okta Support Center at okta-support.pixtulate.com, navigate to the Community Tab and select “Okta Ideas”.
  2. Browse the portal for existing ideas to vote on, or click Submit Feedback.
  3. Tell us “What problem are you trying to solve?” Note, that as you draft your feedback, our portal will suggest related Ideas to upvote instead.
  4. Get automated email updates on your feedback and ideas!
