AkankshN.49959 (Customer) asked a question.

When is the status of the user Staged in the Application User properties

We have an integration for Okta built out, which. the customer uses to generate insights.

For one of the customers, a specific users has a status of "Staged" when using the List users assigned to application (/api/v1/apps/${applicationId}/users) API.

The customer claims that the user is deprovisioned to this app from their end.

When do we get the Staged status for a user, in both the context of application provisioning and deprovisioning?

Any information in this regard is appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi Akanksh Narayana ,

Accounts have a staged status in okta means, they are first created, before the activation flow is initiated, or if there is a pending admin action.

Hi @flz9z (flz9z) , thank you for the response.

I was able to see this definition for staged in this document, but was not able to understand what the possible admin actions in Okta were.

What are the possible admin actions in Okta? It would be great if you can redirect me to the relevant documentation , that you might be aware of.

    Hi Akanksh Narayana ,

Pending admin action means eventhough the user has been onboarded the user is not activated , so the admin has to perform the 'User Activation "

    Hi @flz9z (flz9z) ,

Thank you for the quick response. What is the Pending admin action in case of User deprovisioning?

We are getting few users with Staged status and syncState as ERROR. I went through the API document here, and found this information. It mentions "A provisioning task is created in the administrator UI that must be resolved to retry the job." . Do you know what this means? What can we do to avoid such scenarios moving forward?

    Thanks!

@AkankshN.49959 (Customer) "A provisioning task is created in the administrator UI that must be resolved to retry the job", it means, There will be a task created in the admin dashboard whenever the provisioning task failed to complete with an error due to whatever reason.Login with admin and Go to Okta "Dashboard" --> "Tasks" and click the specific application provisioning task to view the reason. once you fix the error you can click on retry to provision again.
